** Those terrorists sure do provide an electrifying display. Nothing like getting zapped with 50,000 volts. The Sun gives the dramatic tale of the capture of one of the London terrorists. (hat tip: Blackfive)
** Mazda is holding a free test drive event at FedEx Field (home of the Redskins) near D.C. and at 9 other locations around the country. If you’re anywhere near any of them and are 18 or higher (I’m not… waah…) be sure to register immediately for the chance to drive sporty RX-8’s and MX-5’s around a track. You get to compete for best time (among other factors) with the other participants and you get professional performance driving instruction.
Learn the fundamentals of performance driving from our team of professional driving instructors. This class begins with a quick ground school that teachs basic performance driving techniques. This “chalk talk” is followed by an instructor coaching you through the curves in a Mazda RX-8. Space in this specially designed course is limited so be sure to sign up immediately once on-site!

Oooh. Tasers are wicked. The last time the (semi)local PD tased someone, 45 rounds were fired; two of them actually hit the suspect.
Someone needs to calm these guys down a bit.

45 taser rounds? I thought tasers were a one shot affair? They are in the Clancy books. I guess it makes sense, tho, that they would have recently come out with semi-auto. I guess the other alternative scenario would be 45 cops chasing a suspect.

WOOT! Linking to a tabloid sure does wonders for your credibility, Hans! The same paper that spat on the memories of the Liverpool soccer fans that died at Hillsbourough. Let’s try to stick to REAL news sources from now on, huh? (Sorry for the excessive sarcasm. I’m tired)

So which contains actual news more often, tabloids or “real” news sources?

Jadon: Everyone knows the news of this event. The purpose of the link was not the news of it, but the dramatic story. Arguably that is the the focal point of tabloids: a dramatic story (whether its true or not). In this case it is very true and many of the details are the same as related in the Washington Post. However, becuase of their storytelling focus, they did a better job of telling the story.
Jeff: See above. Often they invent stuff for a good story. However, when they do get a story that’s true and not exaggerated, they do a great job of telling that story.
