A close friend of mine just finished a tour of duty with the 101st Airborne, specifically assigned to counter the insurgents. His take? We'd need to be there for a generation, till the kids (who love the Americans) grow up with a new paradigm and take leadership of the country. Currently, ethnic/religious groups are fighting each other for the upper hand. Interesting.
