We have been traveling out-of-country for several months. Half way through our time here, one of your co-workers was proactively checking our ticket status and noticed that flight times had changed so that we wouldn't be able to make our connections on our return flight to our home. He was able to arrange a refund for the unused half of our tickets and arrange new one-way tickets for us. See if any budget website will do that for you! I’m a big Golden Rule fan.
